Abstract
Abstract (Turkish, translation)
Turkish Adaptation of ACTIVLIM Questionnaire in Neuromuscular Diseases by Rasch Analysiz
Purpose: The aim of this study was toassess the reliability and validity of the ACTIVLIM questionnaire forTurkish-speaking neuromuscular disease (NMD) patients with the Rasch analysis. Methods: 169 NMD patients were includedto the study. The independence level regarding activities of daily living wasassessed using the Functional Independence Measurement (FIM) scale whileactivity limitation was evaluated with the Activlim questionnaire. Allassessments were performed twice, at the beginning of the study and 15 dayslater. Statistically analysis were done by using Rasch method. Results: 95 children with a median age of 10 and 74adults with a median age of 34.5 years were included to the study. Seventypatients (41.7%) were assessed a second time. Starting with 22 items, one item(ACTIVLIM 5- Sitting on the toilet) displayed disordered thresholds, necessitating collapsing of categories. According to test/retest reliability, noneof the items showed differential item functioning. Internal consistency of the scale issufficent (Cronbach’s alpha 0.94). Thescale showed expected correlation with FIM scores ( Pearson 0.95) which revealed external construct validityof thescale. Conclusion: ACTIVLIM is found as areliable and valid questionnaire that can be used in the Turkish NMD populationto assess activity limitation.
