Abstract
Purpose: The aim of the study is to examine the relationships between level of independence in activities of daily living and cognitive functions of geriatrics. Material and Methods: 100 geriatrics, 65 years and over, from two different nursing home were included. Demographic information were recorded. Level of independence in activities of daily living was evaluated by Functional Independence Measure (FIM) while the cognitive functions were evaluated by Loeweinstein’s Occupational Therapy and Cognitive Assessment for Geriatrics (LOTCA-G). The results were compared statistically. Results: 55 women and 45 men, totally 100 geriatrics with mean age of 74.85±6.885 years (min: 65, max: 95) were evaluated. Mean total FIM and LOTCA-G scores (71.88±16,901; 73.43±10,42) were correlated (r: 0,745). Self-care activities were corraleted with overlapping shapes; transfer activities were corraleted with overlapping figures (r: 0,834), and clock drawing (r: 0,843); transfer activities were corraleted with overlapping figures (r: 0,843), motor imitation (r: 0,812), clock drawing (r: 0,823), creating two-dimentional model (r: 0,834) and categorization (r: 0,865); mobilization have corralations with overlapping figures (r: 0,871), clock drawing (r: 0,832) and creating two-dimentional model (r: 0,812) (p<0,05). conclusion: Independence in daily living activities of geriatrics is associated with visual motor organization, praxis and thinking skills. Interdisciplinary studies supported with detailed activity analysis and training should be planned to prepare effective rehabilitation interventions
Abstract (Turkish)
Geriatrik Bireylerde Günlük Yaşam Aktivitelerindeki Bağımsızlık Seviyesi İle Kognitif Fonksiyon Değişkenleri Arasındaki İlişkininİncelenmesi
Amaç: Çalışmamızın amacı; geriatrik bireylerde günlük yaşam aktivitelerindeki bağımsızlık seviyesi ile kognitif fonksiyon değişkenleri arasındaki ilişkinin incelenmesidir. Gereç ve yöntem: İki farklı örneklemden bireyler çalışmaya dahil edildi. Demografik bilgiler kaydedildi. Günlük yaşam aktivitelerindeki bağımsızlık seviyesi Fonksiyonel Bağımsızlık Ölçümü (FBÖ) ile değerlendirilirken; kognitif beceriler Geriatriklere özel Loeweinstein’in Ergoterapi ve Kognitif Değerlendirme Skalası (LOTCA-G) ile değerlendirildi. Elde edilen sonuçlar istatistiksel yöntemler ile karşılaştırıldı. Sonuçlar: Çalışmaya yaş ortalaması 74.85±6.885 yıl (min: 65, maks: 95) olan 55’i kadın, 45’i erkek toplam 100 kişi dahil edildi.
