Abstract

Purpose: Toadapt the Professional Behavior Questionnaire into Turkish culture by ensuringthe structural validity and reliability of the scale in order to measureoccupational therapy students. Material and Methods: The original questionnaire is consisted of 3 subscalesand 28 items according to a Likertscale Quintet. Thestudy group consisted of 67 students. The SPSS 23.0 package program was used tocheck the validity and reliability. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) wasperformed to examine the validity of the model of the Turkish form of theProfessional Behavior Questionnaire. The reliability of the scale was examinedby using internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach Alpha) and test-retestmethod.Results: TheEFA results showed that a three-subscale 13-item instrument accounted for64.85% of total variance explained. The subscales of the Professional BehaviorQuestionnaire were “Commitment to learning”, “Skills for learning” and“Cultural competence”. According to reliability analysis, the internalconsistency coefficient was .94 and the test-retest reliability coefficient was.54.Conclusion: Professional behavior of occupationaltherapists is important for the development of the profession. Therefore, thereis a need for a psychometric tool to evaluate occupational behavior of studentsduring their undergraduate education.
