Abstract
The development of feminism in Türkiye is a multifaceted process shaped by the intersection of historical, social and cultural dynamics. In this process, translation has played a decisive role not only in the translation of foreign feminist texts into Turkish but also in the localization, transformation and reproduction of feminist discourses. This study aims to examine feminist translation practices in Türkiye within the framework of Pierre Bourdieu's Field Theory and to analyze the role of translation in laying the theoretical foundations of feminism in Türkiye and in the establishment of feminist thought with a descriptive approach. A corpus was created by searching the library catalogs of 28 universities with gender-related programs and the Women's Library and Information Center Foundation with the keywords of “feminism”, “feminist” and “gender”. 889 original and 590 translated works were identified. As a result, it has been observed that similar actors are involved in the production of both original and translation works, that certain publishing houses are prominent, and that the production of original works has increased predominantly since the 2000s, making it possible to discuss translation as a triggering factor at the beginning.
