Abstract
Cevrî Çelebi holds an important place in the history of Turkish literature as one of the notable poets of seventeenth-century classical Ottoman poetry. His works display several linguistic, thematic, and semantic features characteristic of the Sebk-i Hindî style. This style first emerged and developed in the literary environments of Iran and India, and from the seventeenth century onward began to influence Ottoman literature as well. With this influence, a new poetic approach appeared that differed from the traditional and rule-bound structure of classical poetry. Sebk-i Hindî presents an aesthetic outlook that moves beyond the conventional framework of classical verse and highlights the poet’s personal world. Its defining features include extended noun phrases, the use of new words and expressions, unusual combinations, concretizations, elements from spoken language, exaggeration, particular ways of treating mystical themes, and other distinctive stylistic traits. The introduction of this study provides general information about Cevrî Çelebi’s life, works, literary identity, historical background, and the literary environment in which he lived. It then examines selected couplets from Cevrî’s Dîvân to identify the main Sebk-i Hindî features reflected in his poetry and to determine how prominently they appear in the Dîvân. The conclusion evaluates the Sebk-i Hindî elements observed in the work. The findings show that the Sebk-i Hindî features found in Cevrî’s poetry respond both to the literary trends of the period and to his need for personal expression. They also indicate that the poet adopted Sebk-i Hindî as a stylistic tendency within the Ottoman poetic tradition and incorporated it into his poetry without distancing himself from the classical tradition.
Abstract (Turkish)
Cevrî Divanında Sebk-i Hindî İzleri
Cevrî Çelebi, XVII. yüzyıl klasik Türk edebiyatının önemli ve dikkate değer şairlerinden biri olarak edebiyat tarihimizdeki yerini almıştır. Cevrî’nin şiirlerinde özellikle Sebk-i Hindî’ye özgü üslûbun birtakım dil, içerik ve anlam hususiyetlerini gözlemlemek mümkündür. Sebk-i Hindî, öncelikle İran ve Hindistan edebî muhitlerinde ortaya çıkmış ve zaman içinde gelişmiştir. Osmanlı sahası edebiyatında XVII. yüzyıldan itibaren bu üslûbun etkileri görülmeye başlamış; kendine özgü nitelikleriyle kalıplaşan klasik şiirin geleneksel ve belirli kurallarla sınırlandırılmış yapısından ayrılan yeni bir şiir anlayışı ortaya çıkmıştır. Sebk-i Hindî, klasik şiirin kalıplaşmış geleneksel yapısının ötesine geçip şairin kişisel dünyasını ön plana çıkaran bir estetik anlayışı sunar. Sonuç bölümünde ise Cevrî Dîvânı’nda görülen Sebk-i Hindî özellikleri değerlendirilmiştir. Bu bağlamda Cevrî’nin şiirlerinde görülen Sebk-i Hindî unsurlarının dönemin edebi yönelimlerine ve bireysel anlatım ihtiyacına yanıt verdiği, şairin Sebk-i Hindî’yi Osmanlı şiir geleneğinden kopmadan bir “üslûp yönelimi” olarak algıladığı, benimsendiği ve dönemin genel edebî anlayışına göre kendi şiirine dâhil ettiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Bulgulara göre; şair Sebk-i Hindî unsurlarını dönemin edebî eğilimlerine ve bireysel anlatım ihtiyacına yanıt verecek biçimde kullanmaktadır.
