Abstract

Purpose: In this study, it was aimed to examine effect of occupational therapy (OT) intervention including Person Environment Occupation Model (PEO) on quality of life (QoL) and occupational performance for a child with Cerebral Palsy (CP). Materials And Method: A 7 year old boy with dyskinetic CP was included in this client centered and holistic study. His demographic informations were recorded. Special assesments of person, environment and occupation are evaluated based on PEO. Problem areas were identified according to the assesments. Occupational choices was adjusted by Canadian Occupational Performance Measurement (COPM). The QoL outputs was taken from Pediatric Quality of Life Inventory (PedsQL). Intervention was performed in accordance with the determined occupations for 3 months in child’s home. Measurements were applied twice as pre and post. Results: It was seen that performance score rose 5 to 5,8 and satisfaction 4,4 to 5,4 in COPM. QoL in physical and emotional functioning was risen, no change in social functioning, problems with the school were increased. conclusion: It was concluded that, for a child with CP, person, environment and occupation centered OT intervantion is efficent in improving occupational performance and QoL but longer period is needed for taking more meaningful results in QoL
